is a separate but specialist company bringing the expertise and many years of experience that Glass Space Ltd has gained on commercial, leisure and listed buildings to the residential and domestic market.
Glass Space Ltd offers unique structures for the modern age. A combination of the latest technology and ageless glass make our products durable and stunning. The light that flows through our Blue Sky glass structures will totally transform the look of any home or building.
Structural glass allows your designer / architect to think more freely without the constraints of traditional aluminium and timber construction. Your home can be extended on one or more levels with a structure that is totally glass.
With Structural Glass, there are so many ways you can let more light into your life. Structural Glass is more than a company, it's a system developed over the years to fulfil the design requirements of architects and clients.
A significant part of our work is undertaken on listed buildings and other period properties, and our expertise is regularly called upon for projects on graded buildings. These require particularly careful consideration of the existing structure in the design of any additional elements.
Our architecture fully explores new glass technology to create solutions with breathtaking imagination and originality, in the certain knowledge that the concept will transform into hard reality. There is no standard look or range. We can create a new living or working area, in fact a space that will remove the dividing line between inside and outside to totally captivate light and space.
Create additional space with Structural Glass, to form a beautiful dining or living area. The kitchen can be turned into a bright airy room looking out onto your garden, or with folding sliding doors opening fully to bring the feeling of alfresco dining inside, anything is possible. On top of all that come our roof lights as atria, combining natural light with a moderating micro-climate.
The Blue Sky system uses cutting edge glass technology providing superior thermal efficiency. Add to this our ability to take every project from initial concept through detailed design and manufacture and on to delivery and installation all in one smooth process.
Contact us to advise us of your requirements. It would be helpful but not essential if you had some dimensioned sketches. However as a minimum we simply need to know the approximate size of the structure you require.
Based on these dimensions we will advise a budget cost for your scheme.
If you have employed a professional team to design and manage your project we can work with your Architect to advise on suitable detailing and budget costs for your various options.
If the budget cost is acceptable an experienced designer will be assigned to your project. They will contact you to discuss the finer details of your project with you. Based on these discussions a final detailed quotation will be prepared and put forward as required.
Upon receipt of your instruction to proceed and the payment of any deposit outlined in our quotation we will prepare detailed working drawings for approval by you or your professional advisors.
A significant part of our work is undertaken on listed buildings and other period properties, and our expertise is regularly called upon for projects on graded buildings. These require particularly careful consideration of the existing structure in the design of a contemporary Blue Sky structure.
We often work with consultants and other architectural heritage societies and groups on distinctive and sensitive properties including English Heritage, The National Trust, the Church Buildings Council and CADW in Wales so you can be sure that even on a listed building your project is in safe hands.
Following approval of our drawings and payment of any relevant stage payment outlined in our quotation, we prepare detail fabrication drawings of all the components required for your project and enter them into production. It should be remembered that as each scheme is unique the manufacturing period can vary. However it should normally be between six and eight weeks.
When your building work is completed to the correct stage we will carry out the construction and completion of your Blue Sky structure. Once erected you can continue with your project carrying out any builders work identified on our drawings; such as lead flashings; and of course the completion of your final fitting out.
Every Blue Sky structure is individually designed; quality inspected; checked for structural integrity and signed off as complete, with a copy of the final quality check list issued to you for your retention.
